Everyone knows about the trouble and dysfunction between Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records, the only label the Louisiana legend has ever known, but things are about to change. Since things aren’t moving either way in the battle between Wayne and Birdman, Weezy has opted to sign with another recording giant: Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
At a recent concert in Pennsylvania, Weezy told the crowd he had just signed with another label. “Is it cool if I just say it? It’s the Roc,” Wayne said during his performance at Slippery Rock University, which is a part of his multi-tour barrage of shows. “You know I’m a member of that team now.” Hopefully, Wayne and Hov can cook up some magic like they did on Tha Carter III.
Either way, we should be happy for Wayne. I caught a show of his at SXSW last month and the dude looked to be in great spirits. Happy as hell and ready to be with his fans! Now we just wait to see what will happen with his ties to Cash Money Records.
